Open a chart for your market

Open a new chart and select the instrument matching the strategy you want to run (e.g. 6C for the Canadian Dollar strategy).

Expected result: a live or Sim price chart for the correct instrument is showing.

Open the Strategies panel

Right-click the chart → Strategies… to open NinjaTrader's strategy list for this chart.

Add your Matrix strategy

Find the Matrix strategy matching your chart's instrument in the list and add it. Leave it disabled for now - the next step is reviewing its settings first.

Expected result: the strategy appears in your chart's strategy list, not yet enabled.

Set your contracts

Set Contracts Per Instrument to the size you want to trade. This is the primary setting you control - see Parameters Explained for what every visible setting does.

Expected result: the value shows the quantity you intend to trade, not a default you haven't reviewed.

Expected result

You're set up when...
Your strategy is attached to the correct chart, its contract size is reviewed, and it's still disabled. Safe First Launch Guide → covers what to check before enabling it.

Common mistakes

Wrong instrument, right-looking chart
Double-check the exact contract month (e.g. "6C SEP26") matches what you intended - a strategy attached to the wrong expiry won't trade the way you expect.

Troubleshooting

Strategy not in the list
Confirm installation completed and NinjaTrader was restarted. Full Troubleshooting Guide →
